Religious Education

UUSD offers church school every Sunday. Children participate in the first part of the Sunday service. Following a children's story, they go to their class.

Families need religious community to help them nurture their children's spirituality and to share the joys and concerns of human existence. The Religious Education Program at UUSD is our ministry to children, youth and families. We believe one important way to help children in their search for truth and meaning is to provide a variety of contexts against which they can measure their own experience.

In addition to Sunday morning religious education classes, our program includes events for the entire family, designed to weave our community a little closer. Each family activity combines fellowship and fun and provides opportunities to connect more directly with our principles and purposes.

Our RE program challenges our youth to open their minds, their hands and their hearts.

The mission of the UUSD Religious Education program is to:

Teach the seven principles of Unitarian Universalism and how they may be applied to daily life;
Nurture the spiritual, ethical, emotional, and intellectual growth of children and youth through developmentally appropriate education;
Encourage participation in our religious community and the world;
Facilitate the search for truth and meaning through an appreciation of diversity, including the wisdom of various world religions.
